Jane Doe’s Story

My name is Jane Doe. I am 49 years old. I have been to prison four times and jail, I don’t even know how many! My life was a very sad, sad, story of drug
addiction and abuse. My story is too often familiar in today’s world. I was introduced to the Lord Jesus when I was 35 years old. I was in a Florida County Jail and went with another inmate to the jail service. I first
accepted Christ as my Savior in April 2000. It was
wonderful and I had all intentions of not repeating my old patterns upon my release.

Back then, and still today when you are released from jail it’s at midnight. You see that is the beginning of another day. If your sentence is up; it is up at the stroke of midnight and the jail can no longer hold you. Nothing good happens after midnight! I was picked up by some old friends and was soon “off to the rodeo again.” If I had the availability of a 9 month training program to enter, such as planned for “The Restoration Center of Florida,” 9 years of my life may not have been wasted.

It took me many years to do something different upon my release from incarceration. The last time I was sentenced to prison in 2007 I made a very serious
decision I was by any means necessary going to change my life and not repeat history. I spent 25 years on the streets doing drugs and committing crimes. I spent 2 years of my last prison sentence studying and
digesting God’s Word. Christ has changed me beyond my wildest dreams.

Today I am restored with my children and raising them in the admonition of the Lord. I am married to a Godly man. I work at local restaurant as a front counter supervisor. I have been employed there for over 6 years now. I volunteer at the jail and the prison here in my County. I received my Bachelor’s
Degree to be a counselor 2 years ago. I could not change myself without Christ. I didn’t change me at all, Christ did! I just became a willing vessel.

The Restoration Center of Florida Inc. is something women need badly. There are few places for women getting out of jail or prison to go if she wants a new start. What an opportunity to train up women in the right way! Women that are willing and wanting a change, can have a better chance to succeed through Christ at “The Restoration Center.” Lives will be changed and families will be restored. Truly a blessing to see this happening here; and with the very people who were there for me. It was the intervention of God’s people, who reached out to me with help, when I was released from prison. Because of their sacrifice and care for me at that critical time in my life, I was able to avoid returning to the environment, which had caused me to fall in the past. Having seen the struggles I faced at that time, God has given a vision and a burden to establish “The Restoration Center of Florida, Inc.,” in order to reach out to others, who have given their life to Christ.

To God be the glory!

“If God be for us, who can be against us!”
